Behind the Bar
Rob & Beth
The two who decided Cleveland needed a wine bar, then made it feel like home.
The founders
An idea that complemented the beer next door.
When Rob McGowan looked at the craft beer store downtown, he saw what was missing right beside it. A wine bar. The two would draw the same crowd and send people back and forth across one shared patio. So in 2017, he and Beth Finnell opened The Press.
Rob brought the wine, cider, and mead, much of it from makers across the region. Beth brought the welcome. Regulars will tell you she is the reason a first visit turns into a standing one, the kind of host who knows your pour before you order it.
Between the two of them, The Press became exactly what they set out to build: the only place of its kind in town, and one you settle right into.
“It just made sense to have a wine bar next to a craft beer store. They really complement each other.”Rob McGowan, Co-Founder
