In 2017, Cleveland did not have a place quite like this. A spot where you could order a flight of wine, a cider or a mead, share a board, and feel at home doing it. So Rob McGowan and Beth Finnell built one.
The idea was simple. A craft beer store, Mash & Hops, was already drawing people downtown. Put a wine bar right next door and the two would only make each other better. One patio, two ways to spend an evening, and a whole lot of good company in between.
Cleveland's best place to meet old friends or make new ones.
Pours worth talking about
The list leans on reds, whites, and bubbles, with regional ciders and meads from makers across East Tennessee and beyond. Mead throws some people at first. Call it honey wine and the next question is always the same: is it sweet? Not as sweet as you would think.
And then there are the wine slushies. Frozen, easy, and a little bit famous around here, they have become a local favorite that regulars plan their patio afternoons around.
The kind of place you settle into
The room is warm and intimate, with Edison bulbs, a fireplace, and a patio that welcomes the whole family, four-legged members included. Add live music, trivia, and a weekend brunch people genuinely look forward to, and you have a corner of downtown that feels like it has always been here.
Pull up to the bar. Grab a seat outside. You will feel like a regular before your first sip.
